As my family is random, we're going up north for the weekend to a cottage for snow and tobogganing. I'll be around randomly a bit today and tomorrow morning, but then gone until sometime Sunday night. As there is NO tech there, I'll be totally out of contact, so no-one die in my absence. That includes general maimings.
When you say general maimings, do you mean "no one get generally maimed", or "nobody commit any general maimings"?
What constitutes "general maiming", anyway?
I think anything above the belt and below the neck.
Wouldn't "general" involve the severity? You can maim someone in the face, but if the wounds are light enough, I would say that falls into "general".
I think that falls under disfiguring though.
Only if it's scarring. A lot of scratching could fall under maim-- like a dog maims a woman through scratches. But they heal and, in enough time, you don't even notice.
Not like the dog takes a chunk out of her face and she's left going on some talk show talking about how she's surviving with part of her brain missing, one eye gone, and a general fear of a sound vaguely resembling dogs.
The second one would fall under "severe" maiming, or disfiguring, obviously.
"Maiming is an act or physical injury that degrades the appearance or function of the body, usually without causing death."
Oh fine, ruin my fun with your definitions!
As an aside, you have one of the greatest default icons I've ever seen.
Yeah. I've always liked gas masks, and it looks vaguely like a black-and-white, semi-modern version of the Golden Age Sandman.
I was Sandman for two Hallowe'ens running.
But Dodds' mask was one of those elephant-style ones with the canister on the front.
The modern revamp Sleep of Reason (which sucked) had the side canister.
also, I am a huge nerd.
You're one of my favorite people for being Sandman.
I wanted to look up the Sandman Mystery Theatre stuff, since I like the Golden Age people, but comics from the 40s are hard to come by.
I haven't seen any Golden Age Sandman stuff for sale. I devour the Vertigo imprint stuff though. Guy Davis' art is great.
If anything, I could probably look for the DC Archive stuff like I bought for Golden Age Spectre.
Sandman and The Green Lantern are two Golden-Agers that I really want to know more about, especially since Dodds shows up, like, everywhere.
I prefer the Vertigo version of Dodds...
I'll probably look into that, too, while I'm at it.
Didn't he serve in the Korean War?
Sounds more like a Vietnam War guy.
In exchange for my agreeing to your request, I demand that you have an excellent time.
... Wait, hang on. Can I not maim anyone?? Because I might want to maim some one. That's like three days and some change of possible maimings, I don't know if I can wait that long.
I'm sorry, I'm afraid I can't let you do that.
Can't let you do that, Star Fox.
"no-one die in my absence."
I will try my best!
But my whole weekend was chock full of "general maiming" plans!
Argh, now I'll have to rewrite my whole schedule. Damn it, you're messing with my agenda!
You bastard. I was all ready for a good maiming this weekend.
well, that sounds like fun.
I make no promises. Every day, I must ask myself whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them. Yanno, what dreams may come, and all that.
Paraphrase: YOU DON'T OWN ME, BITCH.
FINE! i'll try to wait until you get back, but then i am SO dying just to show you!
also, maiming does not equal death!
so, surely we could maim people while you're gone, we just can't finish them off, right?
